Today's classic sprint here in Bruksvallarna, Sweden was a real doozy. I qualified 20th and finished 25th. With the goal of getting a block of training done off of which to taper into December, I let my ambition off the leash and did a big week of hard work. Enough of it to make it very hard to race today. And yet as I shuffled off into the woods to mull over my abysmal lack of zip today I couldn't squeeze out a single tear for today's rough performance. I can't help but feeling lucky to be racing and like everything is ultimately going in the right direction... down the track, one foot in front of the other and with tricks and treats to take home from each experience. I'm having a great time working with our super waxers Micke, Graham and Peter and looking forward to the arrival of Yves. The boys are in good spirits and Inge is a great team leader. I've had a great week of training and may be somewhat flattened from it but even being here racing feels like a significant victory after injury year. Would love to race the 10km skate tomorrow but going to respect the dead bod's request to give it a chance to bounce back.
Thanks for checking in!

Sometimes I just can't get psyched for sliced hot dog sauce and ice berg lettuce. Hitting the grocery store for quinoa, smoked salmon and bright colored veg makes my day.

The frost-covered landscape of Bruksvallarna is a nordic paradise.
